Lazy Days & Canadian Shopping List
abgelegt unter: Mein Leben & ich"Weekends don't count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless." Calvin & Hobbes said that once and it's sooo true.
This morning I went to our "officewarming" reception, which went fine. There could have been a few more guests, but it was ok. I'm just glad we've got it over with. After that I spend some time chatting with my mom and with helping Bro #2 set up his new laptop. I don't know where the rest of the afternoon / early evening went. Ok, I do know... I finally managed to spend some time on the phone with a good friend. And I did a lot of very useless things, without having a bad conscience. I re-watched some Private Practice (or rather favorite scenes of it) and I spent quite a while searching for "Wayne Gretzky" clips on youtube. I read so much about him and I know he is the greatest, but I haven't really seen him play. But oh my god, he was just .. amazing. There were scenes - quite a few - which left me totally dumbstruck. How can you score while you're actually rotating away from the goal with your back to the goal !?!?
I alslo found some clips of his last game in Canada and of his final hockey game in New York and the atmosphere and the celebration almost made me cry. Ok, I'm a wuss when it comes to these kind of farewell scenes, no matter when or where or who. But this was really something. A few minutes before the end of the game in Ottawa there was a "goodbye presentation" on the scoreboard and the game had to be interrupted for a few minutes because everyone, including the players, just joined in the farewell celebration. Oh my, I'm such a girl with things like this *g* But it was really, really touching. I can't wait to see some of the stuff at his sports bar in Toronto. Where I'm going to be in exactly six weeks and one hour. *squee*
Talking about Canada, I also compiled my shopping list. There are some books and CDs which I could order via Amazon Germany but it would take weeks and cost a lot of money. So I'll hopefully bring back some music, which I got to know via my TV shows and which I might already have as mp3 files, but I just really really want to own the complete CD as well. As there are
"Story" by Brandi Carlile
"Girls & Boys" by Ingrid Michaelson
"Throwing Punches in the Dark" Matthew Perryman Jones (which will be available for pruchase in some big record story I hope)
And I'll definitely have to find the book "Lighthouse in my Life" by Philmore B. Wass, because that's something Paddy would like to bring to the movie screen in some way. And I've got a soft spot for any biographical historical literature. And although I might only understand half of it, because I don't know anything about NHL hockey, I'd really have to get McCowns Greatest Hockey Arguments, because it's sounds like such a fun book to read.
So, I'll probably keep some space in my suitcase for all the souvenirs :-) Not to mention any hockey memoribilia, which might I come across. It's going to be sooooo much fun. And now I have some dinner and probably will watch a Gretzky biography on youtub as well. I guess I'm in Canadian hockey mood. Today although brought the last two teams for the German play-offs, and it's the two teams I wanted to see there least. Düsseldorf and Hamburg! Argh, why did they have to make it?!?! I just hope they won't survive the first round!
